To become an ALSG instructor, you need to first attend the provider course and gain a recommendation for Instructor Potential from the faculty on the course. The faculty teaching on the courses will be looking for potential instructors to join the ALSG Instructor group, but there is no guarantee that any candidate will be selected for instructor training.
If you are recommended for Instructor Potential from the faculty on the course, you will be informed of this at the end of the course and will receive a Recommendation email from ALSG within 6 weeks of your provider course. This email will contain your log in details to the GIC site and an invitation to book a GIC (Generic Instructor Course). If you have already completed the GIC, you won’t need to complete this again; please just complete the Fast Track form via the link provided in the Recommendation email so you can proceed to Instructor Candidate status.
Once you have completed the GIC/Fast Track form, you will be required to teach on two full courses as an IC (Instructor Candidate). Once your IC status has been processed, you will receive access to the Resources page, where you can view the teaching materials and book your courses as an IC.
The GIC and both ICs must be completed within 4 years of your provider course.
Once you have completed both ICs, you will be signed off as a Full Instructor and will be required to stay in line with the Instructor Activity Regulations (see the FAQ: ‘How many courses am I expected to teach on to remain an active instructor?’
If you have not heard from us within 6 weeks of the provider course you have been recommended from, please email us on enquiries@alsg.org.
